For instance, the Day of the Dead was celebrated last Saturday or Sunday in Mayan culture (around the same time as Halloween in American culture). This day is represented by the glyph Cimi or World-Bridger meaning bridging the world of the dead and the living.

OK, so now back to the 260 day sacred calendar- the Tzolkin. I believe that I might have gotten a pure-blooded Quiche Maya from Guatemala to help me with this part. This not only involves astronomy and mathematics, but also the culture and stories behind the glyphs. Hopefully I can get all of this right.

Here is a Gregorian Month Calendar showing exactly when the aurora borealis will occur. This is to show how predictible that this phenomenon is. This is why it is an important element of natural real time on Earth.

As you can see, though, according to Sitchin there was no extraordinarily cataclysmic event at the beginning of the Long Count in 3113, 3114 B.C. If anyone would know, it would probably be Sitchin. And this may be the case in 2012 also. What I say is to hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.

This is just to give a general idea of what was going on in 3113, 3114 B.C., when the Long Count began. I find Sitchin to be a pretty reliable historian. He is a seasoned archaeologist and has spent his whole life translating ancient texts. Although this does not say anything about the Sun passing through the Dark Rift, it gives you a general idea of the scenario that was occurring in the lands of the Maya around the beginning of the Long Count Claendar. Sitchin believes that is was actually Thoth's arrival in Mesoamerica that began the Long Count, which may be, but he is failing to realize the astronomical aspect I feel. It is possible that Thoth arrived on the same day that the Sun was passing through the Dark Rift I suppose, but I can tell you that it is most probable that the Sun passing through the Dark Rift that began the Long Count.

In Sitchin's Lost Realms p.268, he states, "But no sooner had Anu and Antu returned to Nibiru than the peaceful division of Earth among the Anunnaki clans was disturbed. It was circa 3450 B.C., according to our calculations, when the incident of the Tower of Babel took place: an attempt by Marduk/Ra to obtain primacy for his city Babylon in Mesopotamia. Though frustrated by Enlil and Ninurta, the attempt to involve Mankind in building a launch tower brought about the decision of the gods to disperse Mankind and confuse its languages. The sole civilization and its language were now to be split up; and after a chaotic period that lasted some 350 years, the civilization of the Nile, with its own language and rudimentary writing, was formed. It happened, Egyptologists tell us, circa 3100 B.C. Frustrated in his effort to assume supremacy in civilized Sumer, Marduk/Ra seized upon the granting of civilization to the Egyptians to return to that land and reclaim its lordship from his brother Thoth. Now Thoth found himself a god without a people; and it is our suggestion that accompanied by some of his faithful followers he chose an abode in the New Realms- in Mesoamerica. And we further suggest that it happened not just circa 3100 B.C., but exactly in 3113 B.C.- the time, the year, and even the day from which the Mesoamericans began the Long Count."

In his book Lost Realms, Sitchin states that "pictorial writing appeared in Egypt at the beginning of the Kingship there, circa 3100 B.C., and quickly evolved into a system of hieroglyphic writing."

In his book The Cosmic Code p.58, Zecharia Sitchin states that,"Defied in Mesopotamia, Ra/Marduk returned to Egypt to reassert his supremacy there, as the Great god of the new civilization. The time was 3100 B.C. There was, of course, the small problem of what to do with Thoth, who had been the reigning deity in Egypt and Nubia, while Ra/Marduk was gone. Uncerimoniously, he was sent away. Taking a group of his African followers, he went all the way to the New World, to become Quetzalcoatl, the Winged Serpent God of the Maya. The first calendar instituted by him in Mesoamerica (the Long Count Calendar) began in the year 3113 B.C. (some argue 3114 B.C.). It was, we believe, the precise date of the arrival in the New World of Thoth/Quetzalcoatl."

We do know that the last time that the Sun passed through the Dark Rift was in 3114 B.C. This may coincide with a Biblical cataclysmic event such as the Fall of Babylon, but I know what caused that event (not a pole reversal). Maybe, the fall of Sodom and Gomorrah, but I'm pretty sure I know what caused that too (not a pole reversal, and that was far before 3114 B.C.). I'm gonna have to do some more studying to figure out what was going on in 3114 B.C.
