Profile Information

About Me:
I'm a free spirited, earth-loving, tree-hugging, wife, mama and seamstress. I run my own business, selling handmade, natural-fiber, fairly-traded fabric clothing and other green minded items geared at making living a sustainable life a little bit simpler.
I've been married to Miguel, my spanish mountain man for nine years and still going strong; i love him more every day; we have the most beautiful son in the world and a veritable zoo to round it out (i'm infamous for picking up strays)... Our dream is to homestead; buy some land out west, build a cabin or a yurt, run it off a woodstove, and live as sustainably and off grid as possible. A few things that move me:
history, reading, writing, film, music, guitar, bongos, drum circles, camping, archaeology, gardening, homesteading, dreadlocks , when people play with my hair, sewing, rolling around in the dirt with my dogs when I should be weeding the garden, taking long walks with my son, thunderstorms, treehouses, american spirit cigarettes, cooking, the zoo, black and tans, the history museum, my lucky bamboo plant from my son, lillies and orchids and climbing ivy, tipis, drum circles, camping and bonfires (did I say that already? Well, they deserve two nods), festivals, the way your clothes smell the day after a bonfire, eating beggies straight form the vine in my garden, the way the summer smells and the scent of freshly mowed lawns, long dresses, daisy chains, wearing flowers in my hair, jumping in lakes with my eyes closed, patchouli, blood oranges, sand, the desert, sitting on my porch at three am looking at the sky when it's so quiet it's loud, laughing myself silly, laughing at myself for being silly, laughing so hard I can't breathe, freckles on a girl's nose, the way a man's hands feel rough on my skin, the summer, when the sun is so hot it permeates my skin and warms my bones, smoking a cigarrete after sex, feeding the raccoons that play in our garbage cans even though Miguel yells at me for it; the library, getting letters for no reason, sending little presents to friends i havent talked to in awhile, sharing a good book, reading to someone and being read to, waking up early on a lazy day and lounging around half dressed over a cup of coffee, (2 creams, please), singing, recycling, that i still excited when i see the recycling cans full at my house, climbing trees, watching really scary movies with the lights off at two am and scaring the hell out of myself...

The Elektra Complex

12-08

My father is getting old. And perhaps; a little softer; in moments fleeting. Lady scott and i haven't spoken in almost a month; i won't back down and ask why, b/c truth be told, i'm so exhausted thinking about the ensuing ordeals, i can't fathom a good reason. My poor father is stuck in the middle; playing the go between- everytime she has to tell me something or arrange a visit with my son, she makes him call me. Usually by now one of us would have folded; and my father would have long s… Continue

knockin' on heaven's door: a study in distance

12-08

I'm still looking for my freind, sara (little orange). I haven't had much luck as of late. Miguel asked me the other day what the big deal is, why was I trying so hard to find her? I just looked through him. The truth is, I don't really know.
Why am I searching so hard for a girl i knew for about 6 months and haven't talked to in ten years? My freind Brooke said "Do you remember her? Why are you trying to find her? She was a whacko". I brushed it off; we were young, she was lost; I got lo… Continue

Poetry

~For Smitty~since you asked
(they're a little old; i wrote them a couple years back)

HOMEWAY

heavy weight you carry
such a peaceful man
tired, your eyes so wary
fortune god be damned

strangers, you and i
share the same diversion
painless, low we lie
needle of inversion

jaded- so we speak
dizzy-make me weak
insatiable the need
shallow as we breathe

ache in my soul
damp in my thighs
fill me so full
make me so high

stand alone, look like you
all these things it's put me thr… Continue

Petition for the release of Leonard Peltier case documents under FOIA

http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/Docs2008?e

For anyone not familiar with this case, Leonard Peltier was one of the leaders of AIM, (American Indian Movement); a group founded by native americans that stood up for their rights and encouraged the newer generations to embrace the traditions of their culutre that the american government tried so hard to rob them of.
As recently as the 1970's, native American men were forced to leave thei… Continue
