Down but not Out…
During our short time on the lot in Bayside Park we made many good connections. One that I will remember for the rest of my life was Charles Clements. Everyone called him “Cappie” because he had once been a longtime Captain of his own shrimp boat. Later in life he owned a marine repair shop that he lost during Katrina, but he was still known by everyone as Cappie. You can read his amazing survival story in the book “Hell and High Water”. Cappie was 71 at the time and he let Mo…

Journey to A Rainbow Second Helpin’
As we arrived in Mississippi at the beginning of December it was evident 150 miles from the coast that much damage was wrought when Katrina danced her way inland. Waveland was on the eastern side of the eye of the hurricane. Meteorologists know that as the most powerful section of that type of storm. As the storm made landfall Katrina brought 9 tornados,
sustained…

My mate and I spent 2 years in Waveland MS. Just after Katrina, I made many close friendships in the General public, Mayors office, Fire department, I stand witness to both the good and bad that can happen to, with and after a large scale disaster. I have seen the joy of grateful mommas and poppas, and blessed with almost daily miracles. Smiles

For anyone not familiar with this case, Leonard Peltier was one of the leaders of AIM, (American Indian Movement); a group founded by native americans that stood up for their rights and encouraged the newer generations to embrace the traditions of their culutre that the american government tried so hard to rob them of.
As recently as the 1970's, native American men were forced to leave thei…

a box of freedom,
instructions and rules.
hidden truths
as they distract you with jewels
money hungry
bound to drown
as you lose
your selfish crown.
point and laugh
at those who warn.
treat them like
a bloody thorn
in the end
you shall see
only corners
no place to flee

The Rainbow Family and its antecedents in New Zealand.
The 1960s were characterised by a wide-spread rejection of existing values and beliefs by western youth.
The catalyst for this was opposition in the USA to the Vietnam War and in particular to conscription.
Within the US and its close allies of New Zealand and Australia the political forment led to a popularisation of a range of ideas and philosophies, and a general radicalisation of the population. These events were mirrored elsewhere, in…

The Mexican rainbow gathering was formally titled the “Intergalactic rainbow experience”. It was held between 24th of November 2007 and the 21st of February 2008 at El Desengano, near Las Choapas, Veracruz.
The site was on the Nanchital River downstream of the confluence with a tributary variously known as a “blue river” or “crystal light river”. This is on account of its remarkable and intense blue coloured water. The tributary emerges with some force out of the ground at the base of a high cl…

Lessons Learned Under the Rainbow
Our journey home was full of surprises...never a dull moment to say the least.Good Energy came all the way from Indiana to spend a week with me before we left for the gatherings. Somewhere in the blackhole that is Kansas, his radiator started tripping. The water in the reserve tank was bubbling super hard, as if it were boiling. It was way past closing time, so his only option was to press on to Colorado. The next day, he consulted several reliable mechanics,…
